Compte rendu CE EMEA MAY 27, 2005

 

On May 4th, the IBM Eurocoordination Works Council jointly rejected the economical reasons that were given by the Company to justify the descoping of IBM EHQ missions and the restructuring of 424 jobs.

 

No financial business case was given to the CE and to the Unions representatives. The replacement of these EHQ jobs (in Paris) by two times 200 positions newly created in the IOTs will not achieve in our view to lower center of gravity inside IBM and get closer to our Customers.

 

Yesterday May 26Th, after six weeks thorough negotiations, the IBM Eurocoordination Works Council, fully supported by the Union representative (FO). finally agreed on the social plan to support this reorganization imposed by the Company.

 

These measures only concerning EHQ permanent Employees should both protect full employment (no involuntary separation should take place), and include a set of social measures that we assume to be attractive.
